Creating a bust in wood can be challenging. Edgar Allen was carved from Butternut, It is a wood with very open grain and dark natural color. I thought it might enhance the menacing, spooky personality that his writing conveyed. In any case happy 150th Edgar.
Sharing space with Edgar is the "Dust Bowl Preacher". His eyes will follow you reflecting a menacing "Hell and Brimstone" wandering preacher from our mid west dust bowl era. He is carved from Basswood and left the natural color of the wood.
